This program works alongside other benefits, such as SNAP and WIC, to help keep kids healthy and fed all summer long.

This school year was filled with fun, learning, and delicious adventures at New Haven Elementary! Students had the opportunity to explore healthy foods in exciting and interactive ways throughout the year.
One of the highlights was our colorful Farmers Market Event with Ms. Toni and Chef Eli, where students explored fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and other nutritious foods through hands-on activities, tastings, and educational stations. The event helped students learn where food comes from while encouraging them to try something new.
Students also enjoyed Produce Bingo through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), turning healthy eating into a fun game while learning about a variety of fruits and vegetables from around the world.
Adding even more excitement to the year, members of our dining team dressed up as the Spice Girls, featuring different herbs and spices to teach students about flavors and how seasonings help make foods delicious without adding extra salt.
From tasting new foods and learning about nutrition to participating in engaging activities, our students made this year a memorable one. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping make New Haven Elementary a place where healthy eating and learning go hand in hand!

This school year at Endeavour School was filled with fun, learning, and hands-on experiences centered around food, nutrition, and culinary exploration. One of the highlights was our Roving Chef event, where students worked alongside Chef Eli to bake homemade Lemon Blueberry Bread from scratch while learning valuable kitchen skills and food preparation techniques.
Throughout the year, students also participated in a variety of engaging activities designed to introduce new foods, encourage healthy eating habits, and create memorable experiences in the cafeteria. From interactive food education opportunities to special tasting events, our students embraced every chance to learn, explore, and have fun.
We are proud of the excitement and enthusiasm our students brought to each event and look forward to creating even more memorable experiences in the years ahead.
This school year was packed with exciting culinary experiences, student engagement, and memorable events at New Haven High School. Students had the opportunity to participate in our popular Build-Your-Own Ramen Day with Chef Eli, where they explored new flavors and customized their own delicious ramen bowls while learning about different tastes and ingredients.
Our Travel Around the World interactive menu week took students on a culinary journey across the globe, featuring dishes inspired by different countries and cultures. It was a fun and educational way to experience new foods and traditions from around the world.
To close out an amazing year, students gathered for a festive Outdoor Grill-Out, enjoying freshly grilled favorites and celebrating the start of summer with friends and classmates.
These special events, along with our daily commitment to providing fresh, nutritious, and engaging meal options, helped make this school year one to remember. We are grateful to our students, staff, and families for their support and look forward to creating even more exciting experiences next year!

Our Pre-K students had a blast at the Rocket Farmers Market! Through hands-on activities, food tastings, and interactive learning stations, students explored fruits, vegetables, and grains while learning where food comes from and how it helps our bodies grow strong and healthy. Young explorers colored, traced, solved mazes, learned fun food facts, sampled featured recipes, and collected stamps as they traveled through each station of the market.
Each student received a Farmers Market Adventure Book filled with activities and recipes to take home and share with their families. Students also took home plantable wildflower seed paper, encouraging them to continue their learning by growing something of their own. The Rocket Farmers Market combined nutrition education, food exploration, and hands-on learning to create a fun and memorable experience that helped spark curiosity, encourage healthy choices, and connect students to the journey from farm to table.
A special thank you to David from Delbene Produce for helping support this event, as well as the dedicated New Haven team and Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE) staff whose partnership and commitment helped make this experience possible for our students.

Food allergies are more common than you think; even a tiny trace of an allergen can cause a severe reaction. That’s why it’s important always to check ingredient labels, avoid cross-contact in food preparation, and take allergies seriously. If your child has a food allergy or special dietary need, please fill out the linked Special Diet Form and return it to your student's school secretary.
Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone—because no meal should come with a risk.
The State of Michigan School Meals offers high-quality food that supports student learning. With new state funding, all students can enjoy a free breakfast and lunch daily throughout the school year.
Our food service department has openings with SFE in New Haven Schools. We offer competitive pay and a Monday through Friday schedule, with nights, weekends, and holidays off so you can spend quality time with your family! To apply, visit sfellc.com/careers and search for New Haven Schools 48048.
