Operating Millage Renewal Proposal

New Haven Community Schools will be asking the community to vote on a Non-Homestead Operating Millage Proposal on August 4, 2026 ballot. The ballot proposal would continue the millage that has already been in place and supports the day-to-day operations of New Haven Community Schools. It is a renewal, not a new tax. This proposal renews the school district’s authority to continue levying the operating millage on non-homestead properties. It also includes a small additional cushion that was approved by voters in a prior election. This cushion allows the school district to maintain the full 18 mills when Headlee rollbacks reduce the authorized rate over time. This does not mean the school district will collect more than 18 mills. It simply preserves the ability to continue receiving full state funding.
