NHCS athletic schedule for the week of 4/5/26.

This week students tested their genetics by tasting pieces of paper treated with PTC, thiourea, and sodium benzoate. The taste of the chemical is determined by your genetics. Students reported tasting nothing, salt water, chocolate, hand sanitizer, dish soap, and in some cases very bad tastes. With this information students can calculate what percentage of students have which genotypes, or version of the gene involved. Today this equation is used to track genetic disorders and detect errors in genetics studies.
